Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Direct Support Professionals play an essential role in helping individuals live safely, independently, and actively in their homes and communities.

Depending on the individual's authorized services and support plan, DSP responsibilities may include:

• Supporting daily living activities and personal routines

• Teaching and reinforcing independent living skills

• Supporting community participation and social engagement

• Providing transportation to approved activities, appointments, and outings

• Assisting individuals with working toward personal goals

• Following Individual Support Plans and agency procedures

• Completing accurate service documentation

• Monitoring health and safety

• Reporting concerns and changes as required

• Promoting dignity, choice, independence, and individual rights

DSPs should be dependable, respectful, patient, and comfortable supporting individuals with different abilities and support needs..

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Have a high school diploma or GED

• Possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance when transportation is required

• Have reliable transportation

• Be able to read, write, communicate effectively, and complete required electronic documentation

• Be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Successfully complete required background and registry checks

• Complete all required orientation, training, and credentialing requirements

• Maintain professionalism, dependability, confidentiality, and respect for the individuals we support

Transportation Requirement: Some positions require staff to transport individuals in a personal vehicle for authorized community activities, appointments, and other approved destinations.
